TAMPA - A grass fire on the northeast corner of Tampa International Airport's property has grown to about 10 acres, but the blaze has been largely contained to that area, Tampa Fire Rescue Capt. Mark Bogush said.
The two-alarm fire, which was called in to investigators about 1:12 p.m., initially threatened a Tampa Police Department training area for canines, Bogush said. That area no longer appears to be at risk.
About 30 firefighters from Tampa Fire Rescue are on scene. The wind is carrying the smoke away from the airport and none of the runways or roads appear to be affected.
No injuries or property damage has have been reported.
No flights have been affected at the airport.
