Apparent homicide victim found near Thonotosassa Road

The body found near Thonotosassa and Stanley roads in eastern Hillsborough County this afternoon appears to be that of a homicide victim, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
The body was discovered just before 5 p.m. today by a passerby, said Hillsborough County sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said. The body was found near a wooded area, off a dirt road about 100 feet north of Thonotosassa Road.
The sheriff's office said the body is that of a black man who appears to have trauma to the upper torso. No identification was found.
The man appears to have been dead for 24 to 36 hours, according to the sheriff's office. The Medical Examiner's office will conduct an autopsy.
