RIVERVIEW - Two seventh-inning doubles broke a tie at 6 as Plant City defeated Durant 7-6 and won the Western division of the Saladino Tournament on Tuesday.
Designated hitter Ross Kip doubled to open the seventh inning and was driven in two batters later on a double from Matthew Singletary. Junior Tyler Madill opened the game with a home run and was 2-for-4 in the game with two RBIs.
Freshman TJ Peterson earned the win for the Raiders in relief, pitching 2 2/3 innings, allowing no runs on two hits and striking out four.
Durant took advantage of three wild pitches in the fifth inning to take a 6-3 lead.

JEFFERSON 2
A fifth-inning triple and two wild pitches allowed the Wildcats to come back for the win against Jefferson to clinch the Southern division. Cory Nelson tripled to center with it tied, and he scored on a wild pitch in the next at-bat. Wharton's Steven Christianson hit a home run in the second for the Wildcats' first run and reached in all three of his at-bats. Chad Taylor was 2-for-3 for the Dragons with an RBI single in the first and a home run in the fourth. Taylor's home run was his third of the tournament, tying a Saladino record set by Wharton's Joey Livingston in 1998.

The Wolves jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first two innings. Kyle Copack led off for the Wolves with a double in the first and later scored. Tyler McGuire was 3-for-4, scoring three runs, stealing two bases and hitting a two-run home run in the fifth inning. Alex Parker earned the win for the Wolves, going 5 1/3 innings and striking out seven. Lennard's Ricky Kyler scored twice and drove in two, while Blake Kennedy was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

RIVERVIEW 0
Plant put on a hitting display with four home runs, earning the Panthers the wild-card spot into the next round. Senior Graham Ramos hit his Saladino record-tying third homer to left-center in the third inning. Jake Lowe and Dylan Henderson hit three-run shots in the fifth and sixth innings, with Mike Demo following Henderson's shot in the sixth. The four home runs in the game gave Plant eight for the tournament, tying a Saladino record set by Wharton in 2000. Sergio Pita allowed five hits and struck out five in five innings of work to earn the victory.
