A woman died Wednesday after a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office deputy struck her, according to the sheriff's office.
The crash happened about 4:10 p.m. Wednesday at Mango and Pasadena avenues in South Pasadena. Mary Henesy, 79, was crossing Pasadena Avenue in her wheelchair when she was struck by Sgt. David Danzig, who was southbound on Pasadena in the median lane, the office said.
Henesy was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 7:53 p.m., according to the sheriff's office.
Danzig was headed home in his sheriff's cruiser at the time of the crash, the office said.
The investigation is continuing.
