TAMPA - A 20-year-old man tied up the sheriff's office's 911 system for 7 minutes and 47 seconds early this morning by laughing and asking a dispatcher to send him to jail, an affidavit states.
David Hebel got his wish about 2:55 a.m., after a Hillsborough County deputy responded to his home at 11904 J.D. South Court and charged him with misdemeanor misuse of the 911 system, records show.
Hebel dialed 911 about 2:48 a.m. and asked a dispatcher several times to "just send a deputy because he wanted to go to jail," an affidavit states.
The affidavit does not say why Hebel made the request.
Hebel was held at the Orient Road Jail today on $500 bail.
