Published: April 9, 2009

Two Pinellas County deputies who slept together have been given written reprimands for violating Sheriff Jim Coats' anti-adultery policy.

Cpl. Randy A. Corlett was married when he and Deputy Amy White had sex, according to documents released this morning. Eventually, they had a child together.

White told sheriff's office administrators that, after a few drinks, they went to her hotel room while attending the Florida Association of Hostage Negotiators Conference in Cocoa Beach. The relationship "went beyond just casual co-workers," White said, and they wound up having sex for three or four days during the five-day conference in June, according to the documents.

Then Corlett decided to stop speaking with White and tried to come to terms with his infidelity, documents state. Last month, he told supervisors he was attending marriage counseling with his wife.

An employee at the sheriff's office is prohibited from having an intimate relationship with another employee who is married. By the same token, anyone who is married is prohibited from having a relationship with another employee.
