The federal government has awarded St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport $5.35 million in airport improvement federal stimulus funding.
The money will create approximately 44 construction jobs at an average wage of $25 an hour to complete a $12 million terminal improvement project.
The project includes replacement or rehabilitation of older and obsolete doors and elevators, bag conveyors, roofing, sidewalks, airside aircraft parking areas, a public address system and passenger seating. It also adds new interior finishes for walls and flooring.
