BOSTON - Pat Burrell enjoyed the best of both worlds one last time Wednesday. Hours before taking his swings for the Rays against the Red Sox, Burrell joined his former teammates at Citizens Bank Park as the Phillies received their 2008 World Series rings.
"It's a little uncomfortable talking about it, because it's a new year and it's over," Burrell said. "But for me and I think for everybody on that team, it was a pretty special thing to be a part of. I'm fortunate that I got the opportunity to be there."
Burrell flew to Philadelphia on Wednesday morning and took part in the on-field ceremony before the Phillies' afternoon game against the Braves. As soon as he had done his part, Burrell caught a private plane back to Boston and reached Fenway Park around 5:10 p.m.
