LAND O' LAKES - Easter eggs will fall from the sky Saturday when The North Pointe Church hosts its first Egg Drop.
Families are invited to watch as a helicopter drops 9,000 colorful plastic eggs, each filled with a treat. Children will be invited to fill their baskets.
"We've all heard the question, 'What came first, the chicken or the egg?' We want this event to inspire the question, 'Where do eggs come from?' The answer is: They come from above," said Steve Wells, the church's executive pastor.
The church hired Razor Blade Helicopters to do the flyover and purchased the eggs prestuffed. Some contain sweets, others have toys, and there will be some eggs in a separate area for toddlers.
In addition to the big drop, volunteer-run craft tables, games and other youth activities will begin at 10 a.m., and the church will be serving barbecue and snacks. The church's worship band will also be performing
The church is at 2427 Old Cypress Creek Road. Gates open at 10 a.m., and the egg drop is at 11 a.m. Cost is $1. For information, call (813) 758-4327.
