I read where the Hillsborough County Commission will take part in any county furloughs. Big deal. I suppose they will be sitting around in sackcloth. The pay freeze and no travel are both a given, so they shouldn't break their arms patting themselves on the backs for that sacrifice. The good news is that while the commission is on furlough, they won't be micromanaging our government.
These people are supposed to be leaders. A better example, even though it wouldn't have saved the day, would have been for the commissioners to take a 10 percent pay cut and give up their car allowance for the balance of the year.
Come on, people, lead or get out of the way. How about both furloughs and pay cuts? I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
