TAMPA - Two women in their 20s suffered minor injuries this morning after a kitchen in their home caught fire, Tampa Fire Rescue said.
Firefighters responded to 2016 E. Crenshaw St. about 6:48 a.m. to find the house full of smoke and the kitchen engulfed in flames, Capt. Mark Bogush said. They swiftly extinguished the blaze.
One of the women was transported to Tampa General Hospital to be treated for minor burns, Bogush said. The other is being treated at St. Joseph's Hospital for mild smoke inhalation.
The blaze caused about $50,000 worth of damage to the house and displaced a total of six residents, who will be staying with friends and family, Bogush said.
An official cause has not been determined but the blaze does not appear suspicious, he said.
