A fertilizer spill has closed the southbound lanes of 21st Street near Interstate 4, Tampa Fire Rescue reports.
According to a release, about 5:20 p.m. a tanker carrying 46,000 pounds of dimonium phosphate overturned on 21st Street North under the interstate. The tanker's driver, Roger Bennett, 68, was not hurt, the release says.
Several thousand pounds of the fertilizer spilled, but there is not contamination, the release says.
The road is expected to remain closed for several hours during the cleanup.
The incident remains under investigation.
