Spring Hill man killed trying to cross highway

A 77-year-old man was killed as he was trying to cross U.S. Highway 19 this morning, the Florida Highway Patrol says.
Carl E. Puckett of Spring Hill was walking across the southbound lanes of U.S. 19 south of Applegate Drive when he was struck by a 2001 Kia driven by Charles W. Quinter, 50, of Spring Hill, according to troopers.
Puckett died at the scene, troopers say. Neither Quinter nor his 6-year-old passenger, Nicolette Quinter was hurt.
The incident remains under investigation.
