Boy critical after hit running into street to get ball

ST. PETERSBURG - An 11-year-old boy was hit by a car this afternoon while getting his tennis ball out of the street.

Ricky Little, of 1930 62 Ave. S., was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with substantial injuries, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Officers say Little crossed the street about 4:45 p.m. to get the ball in the 1300 block of 62nd Avenue, just down the street from his home. When he crossed the street to go back over he was hit by an oncoming Chrysler Pacifica driven by Kellyann Wiggan, 25, of 6192 Lynn Lake Dr. S., St. Petersburg.

Little was listed in critical condition Sunday evening. No charges have been filed against the driver.
