Deputies: Woman stole from 83-year-old man to pay bill

TAMPA - A Tampa woman is accused of stealing from an 83-year-old man in order to pay her Verizon bill, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
Antoinette McShan, 33, was arrested today on warrants charging her with felony exploitation of a disabled adult, fraudulent use of personal information and theft from a person aged 65 or older.
She was being held at the Orient Road Jail on $7,500 bail, records show.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said the charges stem from a January 2008 complaint from a caregiver for the man at Weinberg Village, an assisted-living facility at 13005 Community Campus Drive.
The caregiver noticed discrepancies in the man's bank account and notified the facility's administrators, who called authorities.
Carter said it appears that McShan took about $300 from the man to pay a Verizon bill.
