TAMPA - Five people – including four juveniles – were involved in a series of violent armed robberies Sunday in Sulphur Springs, police say.
Four Tampa residents have been arrested, and deputies are seeking the fifth.
One of the suspects, 18-year-old Carol Christina Hill, was arrested Wednesday. Charges against her include robbery, armed burglary and kidnapping.
Also arrested were Dorian Hill, 17; Brandon Pickens, 15; and Kevin Toliver, 15. The other suspect, who has not been identified, is a 17-year-old boy. The four arrested suspects will face charges including three counts each of armed robbery and one count each of kidnapping and burglary.
Three robberies occurred in Sulphur Springs between 12:08 a.m. and 10:34 p.m. Sunday.
In the first robbery, a 49-year-old man was heading home from a bar when teens pointed a gun at him and demanded his wallet, police say. One of the teens struck the man in the face, causing minor injuries, police say.
In the second robbery, the teens approached two newspaper carriers, pointed guns at them and demanded money, police say. When a victim said she didn't have money, the teens pistol-whipped her and took her watch, police say. She suffered swelling and cuts on her face and was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital.
The third robbery involved the beating of a Pizza Hut delivery driver, a police report states. Carol Hill answered a door and handed the deliveryman money. Hill took the pizza, but he soon determined Hill had given him counterfeit money, and he demanded real money, a police report states.
"The suspect told him to wait one minute and she closed the door," the release states. "The victim entered the house and the suspects began violently beating him and took all of his money."
The delivery man suffered injuries to his face and head. He was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital. Officers say they found blood on the door and in the home, and they also found a 2-foot metal rod covered in blood.
The phone number used to call the driver was tracked to Hill.
Three of the suspects, including Carol Hill and Dorian Hill, who are related, were found Wednesday at 1308 E. Sitka Ave. The suspects told police they had played roles "in this one-day terror spree," according to the report.
The grandparents of the fifth suspect told investigators they would find him and take him to police.
Hill remained in Falkenburg Road Jail today. Her bail has not been set.
Police say the three juveniles who were arrested have since been released.
