A teacher at Bradenton Academy was knocked unconscious and robbed in the school's parking lot today.
Manatee County deputies said Chris Westerfield, 51, was getting things out of his van about 6:30 a.m. when two men approached him and struck him on the back of the head. While on the ground, authorities said, the men took $700 and two credit cards from his pockets. They also rifled through his van, but is unknown whether anything was taken.
Westerfield was found unconscious and taken to Blake Hospital. He remains hospitalized for observation.
His assailants are described as a white and a Hispanic man in their 40s.
