DADE CITY - A state grant will pay for landscaping to spruce up downtown's Meridian Avenue.
The Florida Department of Transportation awarded Dade City $60,000, and the city commission approved a landscape plan in December that includes numerous live oaks, crape myrtles and drought-resistant jasmine plants.
Commissioners voted Tuesday to contract with Morelli Landscaping for $55,000 to complete the project in two months.
In other business, commissioners contracted with Stewart Tennis Courts & Fencing to repair and resurface the damaged tennis courts at Price Park and basketball courts at James Irvin Center. The combined cost for the projects is $17,000. The contractor will have 30 days to complete the work.
