Woman who hit man at tea party protest charged by FHP

The Florida Highway Patrol has charged the woman who hit a man taking part in a tax protest last week with careless driving.
Joseph Sprowls, 62, was one of about 50 people taking part in a political demonstration in Port Richey about 6:40 p.m. Wednesday near Mel's Diner on U.S. 19.
Melanie Schrey, 23, of New Port Richey, was making a right turn into the restaurant driveway when she hit Sprowls, who was taken to Community Hospital with minor injuries, the highway patrol said. Sprowls and other protesters were standing in the driveway access, the FHP said.
