TAMPA - Volunteers today planted a flower garden outside a Tampa police district to honor officers killed in the line of duty.
The volunteers from PricewaterhouseCoopers worked on the "Angel Garden" from 1 to 3 p.m. at District 1, 3818 W. Tampa Bay Blvd. They planted 28 annuals for Tampa officers killed in the line of duty and one for an unknown officer who could be killed in the future.
The volunteers chose the district because officers in 2001 planted a tree there to honor Officer Lois Marrero, who was fatally shot on the job. The tree fell during the past year, police said.
Lowe's and Ed Whitt Fencing are donating supplies for the garden.
