WESTON - Residents of Broward's westernmost city are being asked to keep food and garbage indoors as officials search for a black bear that was twice seen romping in some foliage.
The bear was spotted over the weekend barely 100 yards from the backyard of a home in a gated community.
State Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials say the animal, which is described as a young, possibly male Florida black bear weighing about 180 pounds, is the first live bear reported in Broward County since 1978.
