Kelsey carries Tampa Prep

TAMPA - Tampa Prep pitcher Kirsten Kelsey was dominating as the Terrapins made short work of Calvary Christian, winning Tuesday's Class 2A-District 9 semifinal 10-0 in five innings.

The Warriors were no match for Kelsey, who overpowered batters with her fastball and fooled them with her change-up. In five innings, Kelsey had a hand in all 15 outs, fanning 14 and scooping a grounder up and throwing to first for the only other out.

Kelsey said she had good control of both of her pitches and worked them regularly.

The Terrapins scored five runs in the first inning, including a bases-clearing, three-run double from Alyssa Bryant (2-for-2, two runs). Dana Malinowski added a double and drove in the game's first run.
