Teenager shot in St. Petersburg's Childs Park

St. Petersburg police are investigating the shooting of a 16-year-old boy near Childs Park Recreation Center.
The teenager was discovered in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to his upper body when police responded about 8:45 p.m. to a report of shots fired at the park, 4301 13th Ave. S. He is at Bayfront Medical Center; his condition was not immediately available late Tuesday.
Police say a group of teenagers and young adults were part of an "informal gathering'' in the parking lot outside the recreation center when a fight broke out and shots were fired.
