A Dade City man was arrested Wednesday, accused of severely beating his 1-month-old son, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said.
William Bennett Davenport, 29, of 38906 Clinton Ave., is charged with aggravated child abuse. The baby has fractures on the skull, clavicle, ribs and pelvis, an arrest report states. Deputies say the child also has internal bleeding.
Davenport told deputies that on Tuesday4/21 he threw the baby on a bed and the child bounced onto the floor, the report states. He also dropped the baby onto the kitchen floor and grabbed the child aggressively, deputies say.
Sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll described the child as a very fragile infant that "could not withstand such force like it had."
The child was injured in the Dade City house Davenport shares with his fiancée and his fiancee's cousin. The mother took the baby to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa on Tuesday night.
Davenport is being held on $50,000 bail at the Land O' Lakes Jail Detention Center.
