Police: Clearwater city worker molested girl

CLEARWATER - A city of Clearwater employee is accused of molesting a teen girl.

Jarvis McCree, 23, is charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of a minor. McCree, who works as a courier, was arrested at 10:30 a.m. today at the city's offices, police say.

Detectives say McCree met the girl in February when she was 14 but did not specify where. McCree befriended the girl, sent her love notes and bought her a cell phone that he used to send her lewd text messages, detectives say.

On Feb. 21, McCree asked the girl to sneak into a home in north Pinellas County. She returned to the house the next day and was molested by McCree, detectives say.

The girl's parents learned of the incident March 24 and called police. Detectives say the parents found out that McCree had also given a cell phone to the victim's older sister to ensure that his relationship with the 14-year-old was kept quiet.
