Vehicle crashes into building, injures pregnant waitress

A pregnant waitress at the Scoreboard Lounge and four other people were taken to area hospitals after a Ford pickup crashed into the lounge Thursday afternoon near Highway 92 and Williams Road in Hillsborough County.

The woman driving the pickup was handcuffed and taken into custody by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

None of the injuries was life threatening, said Capt. Raymond Yeakley of Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

The waitress "was initially trapped under some of the rubble inside," Yeakley said.

County officials reported heavy damage to the building, which has been closed until inspectors evaluate the structure and deem it safe to enter.

Two of the five people suffered serious injuries. The rest had minor injuries.
