TALLAHASSEE - Military personnel deployed overseas would get an additional tax break on their primary homes under a ballot proposal the Florida House has unanimously passed.

The proposed state constitutional amendment (HJR 833) would go on the 2010 ballot if also approved by the Senate, where a similar measure (SJR 1550) remains in committee. The House passed it Thursday.

Service members' tax bills would be reduced by the same percentage of time they were deployed during the previous year.

It would include Coast Guard, National Guard and reserve as well as active duty members of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force.
