Man charged with abuse of 1-month-old baby

DADE CITY - A Dade City man was arrested Wednesday, accused of severely beating a 1-month-old, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said.
William Bennett Davenport, 29, of 38906 Clinton Ave., is charged with aggravated child abuse. The baby has fractures on the skull, clavicle, ribs and pelvis, an arrest report states. Deputies say the child also has internal bleeding.
Davenport told deputies that on Tuesday he threw the baby on a bed and the child bounced onto the floor, the report states. He also dropped the baby onto the kitchen floor and grabbed the child aggressively, deputies say.
The baby was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa.
Davenport is being held on $50,000 bail at the Land O' Lakes Jail.
