A technical school student battered several school employees this morning, including an assistant principal, Tampa police say.
Officers arrested Erwin Technical Center student Tomas Roman-Inostroza, 20, of Tampa, at 11:37 a.m. today.
Police say Roman-Inostroza punched an assistant principal in the face, slammed an employee's head into a wall and broke a computer monitor worth $500. He also threw a mannequin at a person, striking the person in the upper torso, police say.
Police tried putting Roman-Inostroza in a patrol vehicle. He kicked at its windows and charged at an officer, leading the officer to deploy a Taser, an arrest report states.
Roman-Inostroza tried running through a parking lot, but a school security officer tackled him, police say. A Taser was deployed again.
Following the incident at 2010 E. Hillsborough Ave., Roman-Inostroza was charged with four counts of battery on a school employee and one count each of aggravated battery on a school employee, escape, criminal mischief, battery and disrupting a school function.
Roman-Inostroza remains in Orient Road Jail, where he is considered an escape risk. His bail has not been set.
