Bulls breeze to win over Mountaineers

TAMPA - South Florida scored five runs in the second inning, and starting pitcher Derrick Stultz allowed only two runs over eight innings as the Bulls earned a series victory with an 11-2 win against West Virginia on Saturday night.

Stultz allowed only six hits, no walks and struck out five as the Bulls extended their lead at the top of the Big East standings to two games after Louisville lost to Notre Dame. Ryan Lockwood (Jesuit), Todd Brazeal and Peter Brotons each drove in two runs.

SPARTANS SPLIT: Alex Koranis pitched a three-hitter to salvage a split of Saturday's doubleheader as Tampa defeated Barry 7-1 after falling to the Bucs 6-3 in the opening game.

GATORS WIN: No. 22 Florida clinched its first series victory over South Carolina since 2005 with an 8-3 win. Armwood graduate Brandon McArthur went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while freshman Preston Tucker (Plant) went 3-for-5 with two RBIs to spearhead UF's offense.

NOLES BEAT WAKE: Florida State recorded its eighth straight win against Wake Forest as the Seminoles earned a series with with a 6-4 victory against the Demon Deacons.

MIAMI FALLS: Virginia Tech scored six runs in the fourth inning, and got a strong starting pitching performance from Justin Wright, as the Hokies beat Miami 7-4.
