TAMPA - A Tampa woman's blood-alcohol level was nearly three and a half times the point where Florida drivers are considered legally drunk when she sideswiped a car Saturday night and drove off, police say.
Janice Margaret Fader, 51, of 5401 Bayshore Drive, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, DUI with property damage and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, according to arrest reports.
Fader provided two blood-alcohol level breath samples, which measured 0.290 and 0.278, records state. Florida law presumes a driver is intoxicated at a blood-alcohol level of 0.08.
She stands 5-foot-4 and weighs 140 pounds.
Fader was driving a 2006 Ford SUV near Tyson Avenue and Russell Street about 11:45 p.m. Saturday when she hit another vehicle and kept driving, police say.
She pulled over several blocks away and stopped in the middle of an intersection, blocking traffic, police say. Fader had bloodshot and glassy eyes, slurred speech, a "noticeable sway" and "numerous clues of impairment" when police approached her, according to arrest records.
Fader was released from Orient Road Jail this afternoon after posting $1,250 bail.
