NAPLES - The Florida Highway Patrol planned to temporarily open a roughly 75-mile cross-state stretch of Interstate 75 that had been closed because of a wildfire.
The patrol said all of Alligator Alley was expected to be open Saturday until 7 p.m. and reopened sometime this morning.
The fire has consumed 12,500 acres and winds are expected to flow out of the east at 10 to 15 mph for a few days. The fire is burning north and south of I-75 between mile markers 71 and 86. State Road 29 will remain closed.
