NAPLES - Alligator Alley will open for a few hours even as wildfires continue to pour over the highway.
Also known as Interstate 75, the major road connecting Broward and Collier counties will be open Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to Florida Highway Patrol and Division of Forestry officials.
It has been intermittently inaccessible since Wednesday.
The fire in the Big Cypress National Preserve has scored over 24,000 acres and was only 30 percent contained.
Motorists who need to get across should continue using alternate routes at night because of poor visibility.
