TAMPA - Deputies accused a 47-year-old man of choking his girlfriend, threatening her with a knife and keeping her from calling 911, records show.
Nathaniel Lee Mitchell, of Tampa, was being held without bail today at Orient Road Jail. He is charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, felony witness tampering, felony domestic-violence strangulation and misdemeanor battery.
Mitchell was arrested Monday night.
According to a report, Mitchell and his girlfriend, who have lived together for a year, got into a dispute Monday and he grabbed her around the throat and threatened her with a knife.
Mitchell's girlfriend said he took the phone from her and threw it under a bed when she tried to call 911.
