CASSELBERRY - Authorities say a man killed himself at the central Florida gun range where a mother killed herself and her son three weeks ago.

Police say the death of 26-year-old Jason Kevin McCarthy was an apparent suicide. He was found Monday at Shoot Straight in Casselberry with a gunshot wound to the head. The gun was rented.

Now, the company wants to suspend all firearms rentals until the state allows gun ranges to conduct background checks on customers. But the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which runs background checks, said it was not allowed.

In early April, security video caught a mother walking up behind her 20-year-old son, pointing a revolver at the back of his head and firing a single shot. She then put the gun in her mouth and pulled the trigger.
