TAMPA - Former University of Miami and Plant High quarterback Robert Marve is expected to make a decision on where he will transfer by the end of next week, Plant coach Robert Weiner said today.

Weiner met with Marve and his father, Eugene, Monday evening. Weiner said Marve is still considering all five finalists: Arizona State, Nebraska, Purdue, South Florida and Texas Tech.

"We heavily discussed everything, but no decision yet," Weiner said. "The same schools are in the mix."

Weiner said coaches from two of the five schools are scheduled to visit Marve next week. Purdue is one of the schools; Weiner did not identify the other.

ESPN.com, quoting a source close to Marve, reported Monday that Purdue was Marve's "clear top choice."

"Purdue is in strong consideration," Weiner said today.

As far as USF's chances? "They're still right at the top as a possibility," Weiner said.

Marve will have to sit out the 2009 season at his new school and would have two years of eligibility remaining in 2010 and 2011.

Marve, a former Florida high school Mr. Football, announced he was transferring from Miami in December.
