TAMPA - A 24-year-old man was arrested Saturday after shooting an acquaintance in the leg after a dispute broke out at a local sports bar.
Jose Rodriguez-Castro, of Wishingwell Court, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery and one count of aggravated assault for shooting Lazaro Viera, 43, in the parking lot of a bar at Waters and Manhattan avenues early Saturday morning, sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.
Viera was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital. where he was listed in critical condition.
Rodriguez-Castro fled the scene and was arrested at about 5 p.m. on Fowler Avenue. He is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail.
Carter said the two men knew each other and got into an argument inside the bar. They then took the dispute outside. where Viera was shot in the leg, she said.
