Flagpole attack leaves Tampa man with serious head injuries

TAMPA - Deputies arrested a 27-year-old man Saturday night on a charge of beating another man with an 8-foot-long metal flagpole.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrest report says Jose Saez came to the victim's apartment complex on 15th Street N. armed with the flagpole.
Saez, who has no home address, hit the victim several times in the head with the flagpole, knocking him to the ground. Saez then kicked the victim in the head and stomped on the man's head, the report said.
The victim was knocked unconscious and taken to Tampa General Hospital with serious head injuries, the sheriff's office said.
A witness pointed out Saez who was arrested a block away on 15th Street at about 10 p.m.
Saez is in the Orient Road Jail charged with felony battery and is being held without bond.
