During its July meeting, South Florida Community College's District Board of Trustees elected new officers to the board. David Leidel of Highlands County was elected as 2009-10 chair, and Gary Delatorre of Hardee County was elected as vice chair.
Leidel was appointed to the board in 2007. He received his MBA from Auburn University, and is an investment officer with Highlands Independent Bank. Leidel is a graduate of Leadership Highlands and president of the Highlands County Family YMCA.
Delatorre joined the board in 1999. He owns Coldwell Banker Am-South Realty, Coldwell Banker Highlands Properties, and is a member of the Elks Club, Masons, Lions Club, and Shriners.
SFCC District Board of Trustees member Joan Hartt was also re-elected to serve on the SFCC Foundation Board for 2009-10. For the last 11 years, Hartt has been involved with the Highlands County Republican Executive Committee and served as treasurer for eight years. She is also a member of the Salvation Army board.
She works in the family business, S.Y. Hartt & Son, Inc., which focuses on citrus and cattle production. Hartt has served on the SFCC District Board of Trustees since 1999.
