TALLAHASSEE (AP) - Officials from Florida's public universities across the state are preparing for disaster - just in case.
With classes resuming at many campuses this month, university officials drilled recently on responding to a simulated explosion that left several dead, buildings destroyed and confusion rampant.
The workers tested their ability to get a campus back to normal once the ambulances had raced away with victims and the first responders finished their work.
The employees were challenged to organize an array of issues, including dealing with families, setting up mental health assistance for distraught students, communicating the latest information to the community and perhaps the nation, and coordinating the academic schedule.
