Lakeside shooting sends victim to hospital

AVON PARK - Polk County deputies are investigating a shooting Sunday on the beach area of Trout Lake in Avon Park that sent one man to Tampa General Hospital, deputies said.
About 7 p.m., two men got into an argument that became violent and one of the men shot the other at least once, deputies said.
The victim, identified only as an adult Hispanic man, was airlifted to the hospital and is in surgery, according to a report of the incident.
The gunman, identified by deputies as an adult white man, called the sheriff's office to report the shooting, and remained on the scene until deputies arrived and is cooperating with the investigation.
