FORT PIERCE - A St. Lucie County museum is getting an artifact that was at the center of one of the year's biggest stories.
The National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum in Fort Pierce says it will permanently display the 28-foot lifeboat on which the hijacking of the cargo ship Maersk Alabama ended in April.
Crew members of the Maersk Alabama were taken hostage off the coast of Somalia, but resisted, leading to the captain being held in the lifeboat until Navy SEALs rescued him, killing his captors.
The lifeboat is scheduled to be unveiled Aug. 14.
