Take a peek at Anclote High

HOLIDAY - The school district will offer a tour of Anclote High School from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday so parents, residents and businesspeople can learn about the programs the county's newest high school will offer.

Anclote High is at 1540 Sweetbriar Drive in Holiday, next to Smith Middle School. For information on the tour, call the high school at (727) 246-3000.

The school year begins Aug. 24 for students. Anclote High is built for 1,693 students and expects 1,089 on opening day.

One reason the school will be so far below capacity: Anclote High won't have a senior class its first year, which is typical for new high schools in Pasco.

Anclote students come from neighborhoods previously zoned for Mitchell High and Gulf High, helping to ease crowding at those schools.
