HAVANA - Colombian rocker Juanes will play a "concert for peace" in Havana with Cuban folk legend Silvio Rodriguez and local salsa stars Los Van Van on Sept. 20, the Cuban Institute of Music announced Tuesday.
The Communist Party newspaper Granma quoted Osmany Lopez, the institute's vice president, as saying the 36-year-old winner of five Latin Grammys last year "is very excited" about an open-air concert that include other Latin American stars who have yet to be determined.
Lopez said Juanes visited Cuba in June and met with Rodriguez, a pioneering member of the "New Song" movement who mixes music with staunch defense of Fidel Castro and Cuban revolutionary politics.
