TAMPA - How about a discount Nordstrom for Tampa?
Yes, the chain known for quite upscale items and genuflecting customer service is opening up a "Nordstrom Rack" location at the Walters Crossing complex at I-275 and North Dale Mabry Highway. It will be a next door neighbor to the Home Depot and across the way from Whole Foods.
That's the location where Circuit City recently liquidated and shut down operations.
This would be the first Nordstrom Rack location in Tampa, a 45,000-square-foot store set to open in 2010. Florida has four other Rack locations, the closest opening Nov. 6 in Orlando.
The company describes the concept as "off price," with most items 50 percent to 60 percent discounts off original Nordstrom prices, and some brands 70 percent off.
