TAMPA – Joe and Kris Castellanos will become baseball teammates again this season – at the University of Tampa.
Chris Castellanos, a left-handed pitcher from Newsome High School, is transferring from Florida State University after being sparingly used as a freshman. Joe Castellanos, a catcher from Bloomingdale High School, is transferring from Stetson University, where he played two seasons.
Both players will be eligible immediately at UT, a Division II school.
Kris Castellanos, who played with his brother at Bloomingdale then shifted to Newsome as a senior, had an 18-strikeout game (in six innings) as a senior. At FSU last season, he appeared in three games and had a 13.50 ERA.
Joe Castellanos appeared in 20 games with Stetson last season, starting nine, and batted .233.
