ST. PETERSBURG - A 16-year-old was shot in the back in St. Petersburg early this morning, police say.
About 3 a.m., a carload of people pulled up to the teenager in front of 1701 Russell St. S., tried to rob him, then shot him, police said.
The teenager was rushed to Bayfront Medical Center. He is alive but may have suffered some paralysis, a police officer at the scene said.
No arrests have been made.
The area where the shooting occurred is known for drug activity, police said.
