Police arrested two juveniles early this morning and charged them with breaking into the home of St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Baker and stealing electronic equipment, including a laptop computer.
The computer was recovered, but a television set was not. St. Petersburg police said the teens probably sold the television Thursday on the street "for several hundred dollars."
Charged with the burglary of Baker's home this week were Jeffrey Fleming, 15, and Terrill Floyd, 16. Both were also charged with dealing in stolen property, and Fleming was charged with possession of crack cocaine, police said.
Both were arrested at a home in the 3400 block of 17th Avenue South. They were taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center, police said.
Baker walked in on the burglary after parking in his driveway Thursday. He walked up to a side door of his home, where he noticed damage to the door and a broken window. Someone inside the home was moving around, he told officers.
Two burglars ran out of the back door, carrying electronic items, running to a compact dark-green vehicle parked in the alley behind the home. The car sped away, heading west.
