TAMPA - Thousands of media professionals, students, authors and celebrities are in town this week for the National Association of Black Journalists' annual convention and career fair.
The major networks are among the media organizations represented, and student journalists who hope to impress the network reps are getting a chance to deal with real-life deadlines in a multimedia setting.
College students Monique Mitchell and Eryn Rogers were preparing to work with a TV cameraman on a broadcast story Friday when a change of plans had them producing a written story for the Web.
"It's been pressure," Mitchell said. "But it's been fun, and I've definitely learned a lot."
"I think this a great convention," Rogers said. "I think it is a wonderful opportunity."
The convention continues through Sunday at the Tampa Convention Center.
