ISLAMORADA - Two Tampa Bay area men died in separate diving accidents in the Florida Keys while hunting lobster Thursday.
Monroe County sheriff's deputies said Brian Harlin, 25, of Brandon was diving in the Indian Key Channel with his family about 8 a.m. He and his father were using a third-lung device when an air hose dislodged.
Both men made it to the surface, but Harlin could not be revived.
On Summerland Key, Courtney Spikes, 32, of Trinity dove for lobster in a canal about noon Thursday. He was in the water about five minutes when he surfaced and yelled he was drowning.
Nearby divers eventually found Spikes, but it was too late.
